2013 Recap

Now that the holidays are somewhat over, I have time to blog.  I thought I'd start with recapping the 2013 year. It's the thing to do in blog land Right? Right!

Looking back I have to say I had made so many resolutions, none of which I kept. So I am looking forward to beginning 2014 with being happy, getting to know Jesus and putting my self first so I can be there for my family.

 The highlight of the year was the h.s graduation of my middle son Justin.  My parents, my sister and her family came from NJ to celebrate this milestone with us together as a family.  We enjoyed family bonding with love, laughter and a day at St. Augustine.

Proud parents!

Justin

2013 was pretty much spent at a baseball field either practices, rec games, All-stars and tournaments. 4 or 5 out of the 7 days, thanks to our left handed baseball player Marcus.  Wouldn't trade  it for nothing in the world.  The joy of seeing him on the mound makes those rushing home from work late- night fast food eating all worth it.

I participated in my very first Mud Run.  It was so much fun and for a great cause.  Looking forward to doing another one soon!

We'll that pretty much sums it up!  Stay tuned to 2014 goals and resolutions.

Weekend Shenanigans

Sami's Shenanigans

 Hey All,

I'm linking up with Sami for what may seem to be the last time...at least for now.

This weekend was a busy one.  My son had a baseball tournament that began on Thursday and ended on Saturday with Championship win!  What a great way to end the Fall Baseball Season.  Way to go boys!

On Sunday I finally was able to decorate my house for Christmas, while watching Christmas movies on ABC Family.  It felt rather weird decorating with the AC on and the temperatures reaching 85 degrees.  That's the Florida life..Where is the cold??? I wanna wear my boots!!!  I will trade places with anyone for one day of snow!!!

Well that was my weekend.  How was yours?

Five on Friday

I can’t believe that Christmas is quickly approaching, only 19 days left, and I have so much to do in so little time. Looking forward to the next few weeks. It’s hard to say we are in December with the crazy Florida weather!

 {One} Doesn’t feel like Christmas is in the Air~ Not with 80 degree weather!

{Two} I am still waiting for my husband to bring down my Christmas Décor. Usually, my house is decked out the weekend of Thanksgiving but this year I am still waiting on him!

 {Three}- A tradition in our home is to watch the “Christmas Story” as a family. I would love to add a few more Christmas Movies.

 {Four]- One of the main reasons we chose to live in Florida is the Baseball Season. Baseball is offered as an all around year sport primarily because of the beautiful weather. As a baseball mom, my nights and weekends consist of being at the baseball park watching my son play or practice a lot.

{Five} Christmas Outfit~ Pinterest. Super cute & Comfy for the Holidays.

 There you have it, my five on Friday!  Happy Holidays!

Weekend Shenanies

Hey!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and escaped the Black Friday craziness!

Our Thanksgiving weekend went wonderfully.  My kids were home for the break and we had a "much needed" quality time together.  We ate, laughed, played board games and ate some more.  This went on pretty much all weekend, in between we hit the mall for a bit of shopping.  How was your weekend?  Did you get all of your shopping done?  I didn't!

Weekend Recap

It's Monday and guess what!!??? I am super excited because I only have to work 2.5 days. This past weekend was a really good one, on Saturday my son had his last game of the baseball for fall season, and they went out with a win! Final score 12-8. Woo-hoo.
Saturday evening, I had a much needed girls night with my sister in law. She treated me to dinner at Carrabbas and I must say the food was phenomenal. Not only did I have one drink, but two, glasses of Sangria with an appetizer of Shrimp Scampi it was so yummy, followed by Pasta Weezy, it was mouth watering good. Oh and the never ending bread with olive oil needless to say, I was stuffed.
After our Nosh, it was on to watch Catching Fire. OMG, it was so good, even though Gale is the"Eye Candy", Peeta is stinkin cute, he melts your heart. Looking forward to the MockingJay!
I almost forgot about my Sunday, probably because it was so uneventful. I pretty much did some house chores, finished up my Thanksgiving shopping and relaxed. Well I hope you ladies had a wonderful weekend! Enjoy your Family & Friends on this Thanksgiving! xoxo, Jessie

Five on Friday!!

One}

With the Holiday festivities around the corner, I am looking forward to spending tomorrow night with my favorite sister in law at the St. Augustine “Nights of Lights”

{Two}

Thanksgiving is next week, and I have yet to make the menu.  Thankfully, I will be prepping, cooking and eating along side my sister in law! Did I mention she is my favorite!

{Three}

I start my day with a nice big hot cup of Dunkin Donut Coffee.  Nothing-fancy just plain ole original, but it does have to be light and sweet.  It’s my way of getting the day started.  Always running on Dunkin!

{Four}

I am faced with another year of not being able to spend Thanksgiving with MY side of the family.  Living 1000 miles a way from your parents and siblings can be somewhat upsetting, but you learn to live with it.  I am thankful for my husband’s family and I am looking forward to having Thanksgiving with them.

{Five}

I having been patiently waiting for the Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie.  I am so excited to see it this weekend! Can’t wait!

A lil inspiration goes a long way!

For the last couple of years, I have been on the exercise & weight loss band wagon.  Needless to say, I fall off & can never seem to catch up to it.  Well, here I am again, only this time with help of inspiration staying on until my destination "Healthy lifestyle".
I will be keeping a journal of my food and exercise plans.  I want to keep track of my trial and errors as well as my success.  Inspiration is my Motivation!

Victory vs Defeat

We are taught that winning is everything.  But in essence, what competetion would we have if we walked away with a trophy everytime.
This past weekend my sons travel Baseball team traveled about a 100 miles for the Summer Nationals tournament in Georgia.  Although, we came home empty handed,  the boys did their best and played hard. We try to instill in each boy that winning isn't everything in hopes that they learn from the errors.

College drop off

This past weekend we dropped our middle son off at college for the summer semester. I am so happy he chose a college 40 minutes from our home and 15 minutes from my job..  He is the 2nd child going away, so this time I was not a basket case.  I guess you could say it gets easier, however, I will miss him dearly because I could always count on him for everything.
I couldn't be prouder of him, for all his accomplishments so far and the right direction he is heading.  I know one day he will be a great psychologist!

My First Lozilu 5K Mud Run

This past April I was invited by a friend to do a mud run. Me?  Run?  With mud involved? Ummm No thank you.  I gave it some thought and said hey what the heck, why not, the worst that could happen is I wont be able to complete it and look like an arse doing so.  It really wasn't as bad as I imagined, it was really really fun and I am so glad I did it.

The Lozilu 5k Mud Run is an all ladies run for a great cause, with proceeds going  to children fighting cancer.  I had to do this run for the children even if it meant my out of shape butt had to run in the mud. All in all it was a great event filled with obstacle course and mud pits. I am looking forward to doing another 5k mud run this fall.

Wedding Link Up

button

So I thought this link up was so cute...Gosh wow My wedding to Danny will be 16 years on August 16. We got married in 1997.  Wow before facebook, Instagram and  inexpensive digital cameras hence the picture below..

We pretty much had to pay for our wedding ourselves and I think it turned out to be a very nice venue considering we were on a budget.

We got married in a catholic church in our hometown of Perth Amboy NJ

Our reception was in a bar that had a hall in the back called the Broadway Inn.

The colors were lavender & champagne my favorite colors.

We had a best man/maid of honor , matron of honor, flower girl and ring bearer.

We walked in to what should have been our First Dance song and our First Dance song was the song we should have walked into as Mr & Mrs ... the DJ screwed that up.

Our honeymoon was to the Jersey Shore i.e...Wildwood, Atlantic City and Seaside...I laugh as I type because it was way before the fist pumping started...hahah

All in all it was quaint nice day and I don't regret a single thing about it, I wouldn't change any of it, it was who we were back then.

Looking forward to our 25th wedding Anniversary where I implement Social Media. ha!
